The annual exhibition of the Visual Arts Centre highlights the talent of the art school students
March 15, 2025
For over half a century, the Visual Arts Centre‘s (VAC) annual exhibition has been a can’t-miss event, showcasing the creativity and talent of its art school students. From March 21 to April 12, the McClure Gallery will open its doors to a panorama of the centre’s artistic output, featuring over 100 works made by students from the winter session. This exhibition promises a dive into a rich and varied artistic world, from ceramics to jewellery, textiles, drawing, painting, and mixed media.
From March 21 to April 12, the McClure Gallery presents a selection of over 100 works.
This unique showcase not only gives folks a chance to admire the work of these up-and-coming artists but also to support Montreal’s budding art scene in a real way. Visitors will be able to buy some of the exhibited works at reasonable prices, helping to encourage these young talents to keep pursuing their creative passion.
The VAC’s annual exhibition is a prime meeting point between the public and the new generation of artists, fostering meaningful exchanges and opening up new possibilities in the city’s art landscape.
Art Hive with Julian Peters
On Saturday, April 12, an exceptional Art Hive led by Julian Peters, an instructor at the Visual Arts Centre, invites participants to illustrate a favourite poem or song excerpt, in colour or black and white. This artistic event offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the creative process under the guidance of a renowned artist. As an illustrator and comic book author, Julian Peters will bring his expertise and inspiration to the participants.
‘The focus is on curiosity and creative exploration in a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere.’
This event is part of the free art hives, drop-in mini-workshops where everyone is welcomed as an artist in their own right, regardless of their prior artistic experience. The emphasis is on curiosity and creative exploration in a laid-back and inspiring setting.
