Club Balattou will host an exclusive concert to celebrate the release of Boubé’s new album Voyager on Saturday, March 29, at 9 pm.
Composed in his native Niger before he arrived in Quebec, the tracks on Voyager demonstrate extraordinary maturity. Boubé, a multi-instrumentalist artist, immerses his listeners in the enchanting atmosphere of the desert and the richness of Tamasheq culture. This experience perfectly embodies the artist’s aspirations: weaving intercultural connections, fostering sharing, and promoting harmony between communities.
His desert blues, at once untameable, powerful, and sensitive, blends with lively Afro-rock pieces that celebrate love, sharing, and encounters. A former protégé of Mdou Moctar and Bombino, Boubé reveals the full extent of his talent in this first album distributed worldwide.
By winning the Syli d’Argent at the 17th Syli d’Or de la musique du monde in 2024, Boubé brought his album to fruition thanks to the prize money. This recognition also paved the way for valuable collaborations with Quebec musicians, notably Vincent Duhaime Pérrault, who played a crucial role in the production and development of the album, further enriching Boubé’s musical journey.
About Boubé
A Nigerien artist from Iferouane, Boubé grew up in the heart of the Ténéré desert, home to the largest Tuareg music festival. Immersed in this rich culture, he developed an exceptional talent for singing and mastering several traditional instruments. His music falls within the internationally recognized genre of desert blues, an iconic style of the Berber nomads of the central Sahara.
‘Boubé offers something no other musician does on the music scene: authentic desert blues.’
Le Devoir
A passionate self-taught musician, Boubé began his professional career at fifteen, touring extensively. His talent quickly propelled him onto the international stage. In 2012-2013, he had the opportunity to collaborate with the famous Bombino, playing percussion and drums. The following year, he joined the Mdou Moctar group for a world tour, enriching his musical experience across numerous countries.
A true ambassador of Tuareg music, Boubé will bring a new colour to Montreal’s rich musical palette. On Saturday, March 29, 2025, he will present his album Voyager during an exceptional concert at Club Balattou. World music enthusiasts can already reserve their spots for this highly anticipated event.
