Ausgang Plaza and Nuit blanche unveil this second edition with a series of video capsules

February 18, 2022

Ausgang Plaza and Nuit blanche announce the second edition of Mouvement, a video series showcasing the best talent in dance and beatmaking. The free webcast will premiere on February 26 during Nuit Blanche and will then be available for viewing on the Ausgang Plaza YouTube channel on February 28. This second edition of Mouvement is produced by Ausgang Plaza in the form of ten videos featuring dancers and beatmakers.

These video capsules highlights the finest artists working in the Montreal dance and beatmaking scenes.

Filmed in the fall of 2021, produced by Ausgang Plaza and directed by Jonathan Brisebois, Mouvement is a series of ten videos bringing together a variety of renowned artists and emerging talents from the Quebec dance and beatmaking community, in all their diversity. The eight videos that were part of the project’s first edition, released in the summer of 2021, can be viewed here.

For each video in the Mouvement series, a dancer (or duo of dancers) was paired with a beatmaker. The artists created a choreography to the music composed by the beatmaker. Each video explores a different dance style: Latin reggaeton, trap, popping, dancehall, contemporary dance, house, afro-pop, baile funk, hip-hop fusion and soca.

The production team at Ausgang Plaza filmed and produced the videos, designing different creative worlds that reflected the style of each artist.

Night owls will have the opportunity to enjoy the videos for free through Le Point de Vente live stream from 8 pm. to 8 am. by purchasing tickets here. The videos will be officially released on the Ausgang Plaza YouTube channel on February 28. On the same day, the musical pieces will also be listened to and downloaded for free on Bandcamp.

Ausgang Plaza - MouvementMalick Touré, the project’s founder and artistic director of Ausgang Plaza, describes the second edition of Mouvement as follows: “For this second opus, we wanted to push our ideas a little further by working more on the staging. It was important to us to continue and amplify the “wow” effect of the first videos. The selection of dancers and beatmakers had to exceed expectations all the more. Their contribution and that of the whole technical team has been incredible.”
