Rising star Jaeden Izik-Dzurko is set to inaugurate the Cartes Blanches concert series with a captivating piano recital on March 30th at 3 pm. in Montreal’s prestigious Salle Pierre-Mercure. Showcasing his remarkable range and artistry, the Canadian virtuoso will present a diverse program featuring masterpieces by Bach, Rachmaninov, Scriabin, and Chopin.
Izik-Dzurko has quickly established himself as one of the most compelling pianists of his generation, mesmerizing audiences globally.
Jaeden Izik-Dzurko’s meteoric rise in the classical music world reached new heights in 2024, as he claimed both the Leeds International Piano Competition and the Grand Prize at the Montreal International Music Competition, becoming the first Canadian to achieve this feat in an instrumental category.
His exceptional talent has graced prestigious venues worldwide, from Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música to New York’s Carnegie Hall and Illinois’ Krannert Center to Vancouver’s esteemed Recital Society. As a testament to his growing international acclaim, Izik-Dzurko is set to embark on a Korean tour in spring 2025, followed by a series of recitals and orchestral performances across Europe as part of the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network.
Jaeden Izik-Dzurko’s exceptional talent was captured in his debut album, released by Warner Classics in October 2024. This highly anticipated digital album features a selection of his remarkable performances from the Leeds International Piano Competition. The album showcases Izik-Dzurko’s virtuosity through works by Chopin, Ravel, and Ligeti, including the Scherzo No. 1 in B minor, Op. 20, the complete Miroirs, and two études from Ligeti’s Book 1.
The carefully curated program of the concert, spanning from Baroque to Romantic periods, will showcase the depth and versatility that define his musical approach. This concert not only highlights Izik-Dzurko’s remarkable talent but also reinforces Montreal’s position as a hub for world-class classical performances. About Jaeden Izik-Dzurko
Jaeden Izik-Dzurko’s musical journey began in the small town of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, where he was immersed in a rich musical environment from an early age. His formal education took him to prestigious institutions across North America and Europe.
At The Juilliard School in New York, he earned his Bachelor of Music degree under the tutelage of renowned pianist Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky, during which time he also won the school’s prestigious Gina Bachauer Scholarship Competition. Izik-Dzurko then returned to his home province to complete his Master of Music degree at the University of British Columbia, studying with Dr. Corey Hamm.
His musical development was further shaped by lessons with acclaimed Canadian pianist Ian Parker. Currently, Izik-Dzurko is honing his craft with two distinguished mentors: Dr. Jacob Leuschner at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany, and Dr. Benedetto Lupo at the esteemed Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy. This diverse educational background has contributed to Izik-Dzurko’s unique artistic voice and his rapidly ascending career in the international classical music scene.
