The TWO
The TWO is a unique musical duo that came about through the collaboration of Swiss bluesman Thierry Jaccard and Mauritian multi-instrumentalist Yannick Nanette. Their album, Sadela (“the two” in Mauritian Creole), is much more than just a musical fusion – it’s a real cultural bridge between Europe and the Indian Ocean, inviting you on a sensory trip where the raw emotion of the blues meets the vibrant energy of island music. Through their songs, Jaccard and Nanette reinvent the blues by weaving in the vibrant colours of Mauritian Sega and Réunionnais Maloya. Their melodies tell a story of métissage, where the melancholy of the blues blends with the sunny rhythms of the islands.
A sensory trip where the raw emotion of the blues meets the vibrant energy of island music.
Their music transcends geographic and cultural borders, offering a modern take on identity and cultural heritage. Every note bears the mark of their interwoven journeys—between the Swiss mountains and the tropical beaches, between tradition and modernity.
On one side, there’s Thierry Jaccard, the Swiss bluesman who brings his acoustic sensibility and melodic depth. On the other, Yannick Nanette, the Mauritian musician who infuses the vibrant colours of traditional Indian Ocean rhythms like Sega and Maloya.
A universal musical language
Together, they created the album Sadela (which means “the two” in Mauritian Creole), a work that transcends musical boundaries. Their collaboration gives rise to a unique sound where the nostalgia of the blues meets the sunny energy of island music.
‘More than just a musical project, The TWO embodies an artistic philosophy where differences become a creative force.’
The TWO represents a genuine cultural meeting. Their compositions tell a story of métissage and intersecting identities, between Swiss reserve and Mauritian warmth. Each piece becomes a dialogue between their respective heritages. Through their hybrid melodies, Thierry and Yannick explore universal themes: travel, roots, and the search for identity. Their music, both intimate and captivating, invites a sensory escape where the raw emotions of the blues dance with the infectious rhythms of the islands.
In today’s musical landscape, The TWO stands out with its decidedly transcultural approach, making their differences a creative asset. Their album, Sadela, is more than just a collection of songs—it’s a sonic experience that celebrates the beauty of unexpected encounters.
